In December 2019, LPHR filed a complaint with the UK National Contact Point for the OECD against J.C Bamford Excavators Limited (JCB), a construction equipment company headquartered in the UK. Numerous methodological failures demonstrate the political objectives of this complaint.
In 2018-2020, the EU granted €269,975 to Yesh Din, Breaking the Silence, and Physicians for Human Rights - Israel for a project ostensibly designed to increase “Israeli security forces personnel (ISFP) accountability for forcible home entries in line with democratic standards and international humanitarian and human rights law.” A review of the activities of these three Israeli NGOs since 2018 reveals what they have done with the EU funds, including promoting the canard that Israel is practicing “apartheid.”
The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights condemned Israel in a statement (June 24), purporting to be based on “PCHR’s investigations and eyewitnesses’ testimonies.” However, PCHR’s account is rife with falsehoods. Crucially, key elements were obviously contradicted by security camera footage published by the Israel Police later that day. This episode exemplifies the unreliability of agenda-driven NGO reports and claims of “eyewitness testimony.”
Gerald Steinberg claims that the funders of Breaking the Silence are clearly interested in portraying the actions of IDF soldiers as criminal and callous, thereby hoping to pave the way for prosecutions targeting Israel at the International Criminal Court.
