SOMO’s research claims to “expose[] the corporate impunity that characterises the business-as-usual approach of many multinationals operating in occupied Palestine. Through activities like tourism and the unlawful exploitation of Palestinian natural resources such as stone, gas, and agricultural products, these corporations actively support Israel’s illegal settlement economy.”
NGO Monitor responded the 22 November 2021 letter authored by UN Special Rapporteur Michael Lynk to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), “Responsible Investments – UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights Investments in the Israeli settlement economy.” This response corrects multiple misrepresentations made by Lynk in his letter, relating to business and human rights in conflict zones and the UN Human Rights Council “database”.
Through its ratings and reports on companies, Sustainalytics promotes discriminatory BDS (boycott, divestment, sanctions) campaigns against Israeli companies and businesses operating in Israel and the West Bank.
On April 27, 2020, Al-Haq and Global Legal Action Network (GLAN, Ireland) published, “Business and Human Rights in Occupied Territory: A Guidance for Upholding Human Rights" that attempted to mainstream BDS against Israel in a UN framework
Anne Herzberg brings this submission to the Working Group on Business and Human Rights to assist it in formulating recommendations regarding the implementation of the UN Guiding Principles in conflict and post-conflict situations to be presented to the UN General Assembly in October 2020.
