ICAHD "summer camp," funded by Spain
The Spanish government sponsored participation in a Israel Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD) “2009 Summer Rebuilding Experience,” entitled Creating Alternative Facts on the Ground. Participants were asked to pay to rebuild Palestinian homes that ICAHD claims were demolished by Israel for being constructed illegally. ICAHD has run its summer program since 2003.
Spain’s continuing support of ICAHD contrasts with the European Commission’s decision not to renew funding for this radical NGO in 2009.
The explicitly political objectives for the foreign contributions were acknowledged by ICHAD director Jeff Halper, who stated that “governments are starting to encourage people to come and resist the occupation.”
