In May 2020, Oxfam released a “briefing note” on “Violence and impunity in the West Bank during the COVID-19 pandemic.” In reality, Oxfam took pre-existing, misleading, distorted, outdated, and sloppy research, and artificially relabeled it “COVID-19 and annexation” in order to push a BDS (boycotts, divestment, and sanctions) agenda.
On this week's episode, we dive into one of the worst examples of fact finding in the Arab-Israeli conflict, as Oxfam features UN data that labels armed Palestinian terrorists as victims in its push for an arms embargo and other BDS measures against Israel.
During a May 19, 2020 meeting of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi stated that he had instructed the heads of EU delegations to Israel and West Bank/ Gaza to “look deep” in to the allegations that some EU funds go to terror-linked or -supporting NGOs, declaring that such funding “will not be tolerated.”
On May 12, 2020, Human Rights Watch released “Israel: Discriminatory Land Policies Hem in Palestinians,” the latest installment in its decades-long campaign to assail Israel’s legitimacy. Timed to coincide with the observance of Nakba Day (May 15) – when anti-Israel activists mourn the establishment of the Jewish State as a “catastrophe” – HRW once again invents rights while embracing a 1948 agenda.
The news cycle has been dominated by COVID-19, and a number of advocacy NGOs have made statements linking their agendas to this issue.
On April 20, 2020, the Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC) published a “fact sheet” that promotes numerous allegations originating with Israeli and Palestinian NGOs which have been proven false, or are simply outdated.
